...the end of february...

as february comes to a close, i find myself more and more excited about starting my diy projects, and i also find myself more assertive when it comes to planning. i seriously enojoy this whole idea and project thing.

i accomplished my goal for the weekend, i found the wire i had bought a year ago for a diy project that i never started. also logan has my wire cutters in his tool box in the building. mission accomplished.

i went to the dollar tree last night and what did i find?

super cute blue mini totes. i don't know what i will use them for, but i think they will come in handy for the wedding. if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

i found some next things at the dollar tree last night... they have rose petals, 300 white ones for a dollar. they're kind of cheap looking, but they might be a good thing to throw in the mix as a filler, less of the expensive ones!

i also got in my wedding invitation samples. i am going with these! they are the ones i had picked out all along. but i had the ocean color (blue) picked out. i am going with lagoon. it is a little more teal than my color, but close enough. i was so happy to get the sample in the mail! put a smile on my face.

...and what did i find...

but of course i found stuff at hobby lobby....

i returned my paint and after fifteen minutes i was on my way (ridiculous i say! to get back $1.24. the manager had to come over and what not. seriously, why have the person working the register process the return if they can't even give me the money back!).

i did find some good deals. one of my wedding projects is to create a card box on my own. i found the idea online. you take hat boxes, or plain boxes and decorate them. i love the way it looks.

just imagine these decorated with a hole cut in the top! now i will be looking for wrapping paper for them. i wonder if i could paint them? hm. i found these at hobby lobby. total price for both, less than $10! steal huh? considering michael's wanter $12.99 for the big one. these unfortunately were not on sale, but for the price, i couldn't pass them up! blake even helped too. they are hidden away in my room to keep him away from them. putting stuff in them is just too much fun for him. i cannot wait to paint the k and put some small flowers around it on top of the box. cannot wait to get out my glue gun.

i also made another purchase...
some great green ribbon! ribbon is 50% off at hobby lobby right now. and i got the balls for my pomanders. $4.77 for six beats michael's at $4.99. plus hobby lobby is in richmond, not lexington. i was reading up on them online, looks like they're more time consuming than what i thought. i want to try to make one this weekend. i also need to see if i can go over to waco baptist to take pictures and try to plan how many i need to make. i don't want to be last minute trying to accomplish all my diy ideas. that would really stink.

and last but not least...
super cute foam sparkly letters. i think i am going to try to make a sign for our door with them. they were too cute to pass up for .50 cent each! good thing about having a short new last name! hehe.

what a great day! i forgot to mention earlier that i ordered sample invitations. i ordered one of these and one of these. i think i want to go with the first one, but i want to see the color difference between the two. super cheap and cute. just the way i like it.

...a quick update...

hi everyone! just a quick update. i talked to somoene today about catering. i do believe we are going to go with sonny's bbq. i talked with a girl named lee-anne today about making all the arrangements.

also, a lady i work with kathy, is going to bring in pictures of all of her wedding items. she is going to offer a good deal on them, 50% of what she paid. yipee. can't wait to look and see what she has.

i am going by hobby lobby tonight to see what they have on sale this week. my future mother-in-law told me that ribbon was on sale for 50% off. what a deal. i will be taking my previously purchased ribbon with me to compare colors. i want to make sure everything matches. i also will return the paint that i bought.

i do believe that is all for wedding land. i'll have an update tonight if i buy anything!

...monday and michael's...

i did end up going to the michael's today. i am so happy i did. i found some amazing deals, and sure enough i used three coupons. i did go and get my big vase!

i ended up getting it for less than $10!!! it was originally $19.99.

and i also found a wonderful color for my ribbon, and the matching paint. looks like i am going to have to return the one i bought at hobby lobby. no big deal. i got it for .23 cents. fab right? also, the ribbon was 20% off with an addition 25% off.

and... i found beautiful flowers for samantha's pomander. i think i want her to carry that instead of a flower girl basket. eeek. i am looking at them right now, they are beautiful.
i hope to make a beautiful pomander for her! i just hope that i can. i do believe i may try to make it this weekend. i bet i could find something online about how to make one with flowers.

...a little inspiration...

as we all know, i went shopping on saturday. i found some other things that wouldn't make much sense until i was able to fully update my ideas. i have a wonderful lime green notebook that is constantly filled with ideas and everything else that comes through my mind. so this weekend i went to the dollar tree in richmond. who knew they would have odds and ends. my friend talia (getting married the same day as me) made mention about getting some stuff for her bridesmaids there. i remembered that one upon a time, they had tissue paper in bulk. and sure enough they still do!

and what on earth would i need tissue paper for? well a wonderful diy idea i found online. diy tissue pomanders are a great idea for pew decorations.

how super cute are these?! i thought they would look wonderful in white with large blue and green ribbons.

and i found some flowers at the dollar tree as well...

so that i could create something like this...

and look what i found at michael's...

i plan on going back tomorrow to get this beauty. michael's has an additional 20% off total purchase coupon, and has a bonus coupon for ribbon. i'm a little excited to say the least.

...what's in a dress...

i totally should have updated with my dress and my bridesmaid dresses! how silly of me!

i got my dress from david's bridal. i absolutely love it.

and here are my bridesmaid dresses... we are doing mailbu and lime green as our colors.

this is the dress for my bridesmaids!

and this is madison's dress. this is our actual color, malibu.

and this dress is a little inspiration...
how cute it it?! i would love to wear it for my reception.

i love david's bridal. they have so many options.

...a saturday of shopping...

yesterday i took logan with me wedding shopping all  day. lucky him, huh? i found lots of super deals.

we started at michael's  in lexington. i did a quick trip around the store and sure enough i found the clearance section. they had some wonderful wedding items on sale.

fabulous ribbon. .99 cents, original $3.99.  the blue is perfect.

i also found wonderful topiary place card holders. how cute are they?! and a total steal for $1.49. i also found these printable place cards. $2.49 regular $5.99.

i also purchased a photo mat for our wedding. i thought it would be better than a guest book. i will end up packing up a guest book in a box, only to be visited a few more times before it is eventually thrown away. so i thought a photo mat could be displayed in our home. it was $9.99 and i used a 50% off coupon. i got it for $4.99. the pens were on sale 2/$5. they are normally $3.49 a piece.

best deal of all, i got two 40% off coupons while i was there. i will be checking back next week. i believe i can make a weekly trip to michael's to get some fabulous deals. they have such an amazing wedding section.

then after lunch, and blake's first temper tantrum of the day, we headed to party city. i bought my cake topper. i found it online on party city's website. i know it is basic, but i want to put flowers around it as well. very simple, but can be beautiful at the same time. i am not a fan of the bride and groom cake toppers.

i also found where i want to buy all our paper products. how fun are these colors?

i know it is a horrible picture. but you get the point.

from there we went to meijer for some household stuff. and then we ended up at walmart. i found an amazing deal. i am super excited about it too. and what is that? i found flower petals from valentine's day for .50 cents. i got every one that i could find. not much, but still a start. i want flowers to line the isle.

on friday i found some stuff at the hobby lobby...

how cute are these?! i want to paint them for a decoration at the reception. i was thinking about putting ribbon on them to hang. :) i got them for 50% off too!

logan found this frame. i figured it would be cute painted. and i will replace the ribbon.

...a little background information...

i guess a little background information is needed. i am getting married june 11th, 2011, along with just about every other girl this summer. after three bridal shows, just about every vendor was booked for june 11th. but we still found what we needed. and what exactly what are doing for our wedding?!

well here goes...

we are having our wedding at waco baptist church.

we are having our reception at the madison county fairgrounds. we are renting the floral hall building. i hope to make it look beautiful for our reception. feel free to give me ideas on ways to decorate.

i am also thrilled that we are using courtney baldrige photography. she is a wonderful local photographer that my fiance used to work with. you can look at her blog as well.

for our dj we are using kyle sowers. he is local as well.
